By doing business with Equal Exchange, Sacred Paths not only serves a great-tasting product, but also furthers the livelihood of small farmers and helps protect the earth. Fair trade means that the farmers that grow the coffee and tea are guaranteed a minimum price per pound for their products that corresponds to a living wage, independent of current market conditions. When the market price is above this minimum, the farmer receives market price plus a small premium. Equal Exchange does business with small, democratically run farmer cooperatives that grow their products organically, using sustainable methods.
