REGIFTING TO SACRED PATHS

REGIFTING TO SACRED PATHS

Sacred Paths Community is always looking for new fundraising ideas and a very simple, yet brilliant, one has been suggested by Ivan Winegar.  At a recent Community meeting, it was suggested that this idea be adopted as a tradition for Sacred Paths.

Many of us receive gifts from others on special occasions (birthdays, holidays, condolences, etc.) that we really don’t need (and sometimes don’t even know what to do with).  Lots of people deal with this by asking that gifts instead be given to a non-profit organization (such as the Heifer Project).  That recipient could just as well be Sacred Paths Community.

Upon doing the math, the results turn out to be quite interesting.  Let’s make the following assumptions:  (a) on average there are 2 gift giving occasions per year, (b) on average each individual has 5 potential gift givers, (c) on average the gifts would be in the amount of $20 each, and (d) 20 Community Members participate in this tradition.  That would mean an additional $4000/year for Sacred Paths.  That amount would be the equivalent of getting 4 new members, each of whom pledges $1000/year, and it would cover 4 weeks of SPC’s operations.

Logistically, the gift giver would make a check out payable to Sacred Paths Community with the name of the recipient and the purpose of the gift on the memo line of the check.  The check should then be sent to Beth Ann Rinkus, c/o Sacred Paths Community, 733 Church Road, Hatfield, PA 19440.  Beth Ann would then send an acknowledgement to both the donor and the recipient and would deposit the check in SPC’s account.

What say you?  How about giving it a try?
